“You don’t want to be the Ramp Rat who has to explain to Wild Weasel why his missile didn’t detonate on impact. You’ll wind up with the Under-the-Ground-Crew.”

Will you be adding this set to your collection? If so, will you be picking up more than one?

If you’ve ever looked at your HasLab Cobra Rattler sitting on the shelf and thought, “Someone has to prep that thing for takeoff”, well, Hasbro finally heard you. The G.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra Ramp Rats (Series #195) is one of the most niche, most delightful, and most surprisingly well-executed sets to come out of the Classified line in a while. Are they front-line fighters? Absolutely not. Are they worth your money? Let’s get into it.

Who Are the Cobra Ramp Rats?

Each Ramp Rat member of the Cobra Ground Crew is responsible for refueling, maintaining, and marshalling Cobra’s arsenal of aircraft. They also outfit the vehicles with their full ordnance. While Ramp Rats don’t serve on the front lines, working as a member of the Cobra Ground Crew can be just as dangerous — with deadly consequences for poor job performance. As the official character lore puts it: “You don’t want to be the Ramp Rat who has to explain to Wild Weasel why his missile didn’t detonate on impact.” That’s the kind of grim workplace culture only Cobra could offer.

The concept has history, too. The HasLab Skystriker for the classic 1/18th scaled figures previously came with a Cobra Ground Crew figure called Ramp Rats, making that the only other non-pilot Cobra air support Hasbro had released in any line.Bringing them into the Classified Series as a dedicated 6-inch two-pack is a bold, fan-service move that will either excite dedicated army builders or leave casual collectors scratching their heads.

Packaging and Presentation

The Cobra Ramp Rats come packed as a two-pack in a wide window box, with the left side featuring card artwork depicting two ground crew operatives in blue jumpsuits and colorful tactical vests against a fiery airfield scene with Rattlers overhead. The two figures are packed side by side in the right window — one wearing a yellow vest with goggles pushed up on his head, and the other in a red vest with a red helmet and face covering, both in blue flight crew uniforms.

The back of the box doesn’t disappoint either. The back of the Cobra Ramp Rats box features a dark brown and red schematic-style layout, with line art blueprints of both figures and their full accessory spread diagrammed out. The equipment crate and its internal compartments are illustrated on the right side, with arrows indicating how the panels open and close.

It’s premium packaging that looks great on a shelf even before you crack it open.

Figure Design: “Ketchup and Mustard” Done Right

The fan community has already affectionately dubbed these two “Ketchup and Mustard,” and it’s easy to see why. The figures are styled with contrasting color schemes; one in a bright yellow safety vest with a Cobra emblem over dark navy fatigues, complete with a yellow hard hat and goggles, while the other wears a red vest with a red helmet and face covering. It’s a classic Cobra aesthetic applied to a support role, and it works surprisingly well.

Both figures feature highly articulated 6-inch (15 cm) scale construction with premium deco and detailing, consistent with the best the Classified line has to offer. Interchangeable heads and removable helmets add to the customization options, which is a major plus for collectors who want to vary their army-building displays.

Accessories: More Than You’d Expect

This is where the Ramp Rats genuinely shine. The set includes 2 figures plus 18 accessory pieces, including 2 helmets, 2 marshalling wands, 2 knives, and weapon accessories, plus a modular storage crate with 16 unassembled pieces that are compatible with other Classified Series modular playsets.

The set also includes batons that can be stored on the figures’ legs, and the crate opens via a hinge system and can connect to existing Cobra defense setups. The crate is designed for world-building, allowing collectors to create diorama scenes, and includes multiple weapons stored inside.

There’s also a standout surprise in the loadout: a chainsaw accessory adds variety to the gear, alongside accessories including weapons, marshalling wands with orange tips, and additional headgear arranged around the figures in the tray. A chainsaw. For a ground crew worker. Only in Cobra.

Who Is This Set For?

Let’s be real: this set is not for everyone. If you don’t own the HasLab Rattler or you’re not a dedicated Classified diorama builder, two anonymous support techs probably aren’t going to top your wish list. The Cobra Ramp Rats set is positioned as a companion piece to the HasLab Rattler, and it fills that role exceptionally well.

But for collectors who do have the Rattler sitting in their display, these figures are the missing piece, the tiny human detail that makes a large vehicle feel lived-in and operational. Army builders will want multiples to populate a full flight deck scene, and the modular crate system gives you something genuinely useful for diorama setups.

Final Verdict

Score: 8.5/10

The G.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra Ramp Rats are a niche product done with real care. The accessory count is generous, the contrasting color designs are visually fun, the packaging is collector-grade, and the modular crate adds genuine play and display value. The figures look sharp alongside the Rattler and bring a level of realism to Cobra’s air operations that the line has needed since day one.

The main caveat is obvious: this is a support set for a $400+ vehicle, so your enthusiasm for the Ramp Rats will likely scale directly with your investment in the HasLab ecosystem. But within that context? Hasbro knocked it out of the hangar. These poor Ramp Rats may face deadly consequences for poor job performance in Cobra — but this set performs just fine.
