G.I.Joe Classified Series Cobra Ramp Rats Revealed

Today, a new Rattler Ground Crew was “revealed” via a pair of different sources. Here’s the scoop & timeline –

Earlier today, Instagram user BrettlyBrett shared word of the Ramp Rat 2 pack being up for preorder in the Asian market –

The grainy pic was our first look at #195 in the Classified Series lineup.

Shortly thereafter, a listing appeared on eBay for the 2 pack, giving us our first look at official photography for the set. Check it out –

No officials details noted (yet), but I’ll be sure to update once that profile info becomes available.

It’s cool to finally see Ketchup & Mustard in the lineup. Their gear is awesome too, as I’m loving that air cargo crate!

Many thanks go to BrettlyBrett and Bee’s Battlegrounds for the heads up. Will you be adding this set to your collection? If so, are you planning on grabbing more than one? Sound off!

My unpopular take is that we should have gotten Ramp Rats (first introduced with the Skystriker Haslab in the 1:18 scale) with the Rattler more than the patches and superfluous Rattler gunner (who at least we could have gotten a Scar Face variant head! Come on people, money on the table) A classic trooper body with the safety vest and airfield support gear is all we needed.

Longitudinally, though, they make sense for people with Trubble Bubbles, CLAWs, and presumed FANGs even as I think one of the accessories is a bit mystifying.

If everyone can just pick up a SAW Viper rig, what’s the point of a SAW Viper branch?

I still want them to just break down and introduce a Chief Lab Rat from MARS who can finally explain some of the design choices: “Why did I put a chainsaw bayonet on a gyro-stabilized, cryogenically-cooled belt-fed mini-chain gun with an infra-red night-vision, auto-ranging optic? Because it’s rad-ass, dude! Look at this thing! It’s a state-of-the-art masterpiece that’s going to get me an award at this year’s MARS holiday party!”

I get it that we have plenty of vendors supplying 3rd party 1:12 scale props and waterslide decals already, but a set of Cobra Blue Mystery Barrels with hookups for fueling hoses and hazard decals would have taken up less packaging space and wouldn’t have been a tooling issue. We KNOW how to make a barrel and a hose. Easy enough to rebrand for the Joe Skyhawk and Dragonfly support crew later if it takes off, like that checkpoint they just foisted on us. A box of Dark Energon crystals or DIRE tech gas would have made sense of this, since we’re still chugging ahead with that storyline.

But no, ANOTHER SAW Viper rig. I guess I’ll give that gun to the Grim Viper and pretend he’s using that one while the Techno Viper fixes his minigun Sasha.
