Skeletron Roboskull Project Update – January 2025

Hello Roboskullers!

A lot has happened since our last Kickstarter update, and we’ll start off with a giant THANK YOU!   The reception to the arrival of the ROBOSKULL MKII & MKII SE has truly exceeded all expectations.

ROBOSKULL RECEPTION

We are incredibly honored to hear so many collectors, reviewers, and industry pros hailing the ROBOSKULL MKII as “Toy of the Year!”   Seeing such an incredible response from so many in the community has now somehow made this project even more special.  As a backer of this Kickstarter campaign, we hope you also feel a personal sense of pride for this absolute beast of a toy.  It was your massive support that allowed so many crazy enhancements to be jam-packed into this very special release.

Collectors, reviewers, and industry pros are hailing the ROBOSKULL MKII as “Toy of the Year!”

We are truly overjoyed by all the love the Roboskull is receiving, and we thank ALL of you for your video reviews, posts, and shares.  There are SO MANY great reviews and amazingly supportive fans out there, and we appreciate each and every one of you.

While we wish we could highlight every review that’s been done, we are going to demonstrate some serious restraint and link to JUST ONE Roboskull MKII review in this update.  Check out this video by AlanTheCollector.  We promise- you WILL be entertained!https://youtu.be/FAwwvSMih6g?si=WG4maO_5CliBCdLU

KICKSTARTER PROGRESS

Now that the Roboskull MKII, MKII SE, & Elite Flight Stand have been delivered with much fanfare, let’s talk about what’s new with what’s left!  Our factory friends in China are currently on holiday for the Lunar New Year, but we have some solid progress to share, nonetheless.

As you may recall, the ROBOKNIGHT HEAVY METAL ARMOR Accessory needed to be retooled from scratch.  We received a new factory-painted sample and it looks great!  We are requesting one very minor adjustment, and then production will be able to commence.

As you also know, we’ve been revising tooling on our 6″ figures, and we recently received a newly updated test shot.  It’s SO CLOSE!   The figure looks and feels fantastic, and we expect the factory will be able to quickly make the (hopefully final) tweaks upon their return and move these highly-anticipated, long-awaited figures into production.

We also received 6″ WOLF TROOPER factory paint samples to review concurrently with the tooling adjustments.  We think you’re going to LOVE the extra detailing we’ve put into these 6″ figures to make them really shine.

All-in-all, we’ve seen a lot of recent activity and responsiveness from the factory and are hopeful we’ll be in full production soon on these items.  At the same time, project timing and delivery has been the most challenging facet of this project, and we are continuing to push hard for the completion of the remaining rewards in the front half of this year.   We expect to have a better sense of timing after the factory returns from Holiday, and will continue to provide you with updates as they happen.  As always, thank you for your patience on these remaining rewards!

COMMUNITY LOSS

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Aaron Detrick earlier this month.  Aaron was truly the best of us, and our hearts go out to his friends and family.  We know Aaron would appreciate the outpouring of love and support that we’ve seen throughout the community over the last two weeks, and the fundraising effort for Aaron’s GoFundMe has been remarkable.  Thank you to Aaron’s wife Sara, his cousin Kenny, and his entire family for so graciously hosting a celebration of his life in Ohio last weekend.

Aaron Detrick of ROMA Collectibles & Friends

We also mourn the recent passing of Brian Camp, a long-time friend and member of the GI Joe community.  Many of us first met Camp at Assembly Required in Des Moines, Iowa, where he would make an annual trek North from his home in Alabama. Both Aaron and Brian are gone far too soon, and we will remember them for the joy they brought to us and to so many in our collector community.
