Earlier today, Hasbro dropped their latest round of preorders that were showcased at New York Toy Fair. As such, I’ve collected all the details on each figure (excluding preorder links) in one easy to view page. The elite Cobra-La Royal Guard joins the G.I. Joe Classified Series, bringing the monstrous protectors of Golobulus into the modern era.

Bred and surgically enhanced for size, strength, and endurance, the royal guards of Cobra-La are responsible for the personal protection of Golobulus, supreme leader of the hidden valley and last descendant of the serpent kings. Encased from head to foot in bioorganic armor, Cobra-La Royal Guard are impervious to any ordnance up to a High-Explosive Anti-Tank round. Although formidable in battle, the guards tend to be tactically unimaginative and are relatively useless without close supervision.

“There was an attempted coup in Cobra-La around the time when the Emperor Hadrian was building his wall. Five hundred irate noblemen stormed the inner sanctum of Golobulus’ summer palace and were confronted by twenty royal guards. Golobulus slept through the entire incident. One guard was slightly wounded. Of the five hundred noblemen, there were no survivors.

Zartan is a mysterious human chameleon whose secrets of deception have never been fully revealed. Is he simply a master of disguise, a manipulator of masks and makeup, or does he employ holograms to aid in his deceptions? Many have given sworn statements that Zartan can actually change his skin color at will to blend in with his environment. As dubious as some of these claims are, there is no doubt that he is a gifted impersonator, ventriloquist, linguist (over twenty languages), acrobatic contortionist and a master of several mystic martial arts. Very little is known of his background and origins though he occasionally works with his siblings, twins Zandar and Zarana, and is the leader of the Dreadnoks who are believed to have a secret hideout deep in the Florida Everglades.

With no restrictions on experimentation and no lack of volunteers Dr. Mindbender and Professor Rottclaw have improved upon Cobra’s past attempts to create a squadron of amphibious commandoes able to breath both air and water. Hydro-Vipers are qualified Cobra Eels (Combat Divers) surgically altered to withstand nitrogen narcosis and other side effects of deep diving, making them elite underwater troopers. Synthetic webs are implanted between their fingers and subcutaneous fat production is stimulated by chemical injections to provide natural insulation. Despite the successful conversion process, the long-term effect of these procedures is known to be psychologically destabilizing.

Alejandro Balam Luna Mendoza and his twin brother Salvador Ramon overcame numerous challenges in Xalapa after drug kingpin Headman and the Lords of the Underworld cartel killed their professional ballplayer father before they were even born. Raised by their mother in the home of their grandparents, they grew out among the mountains and trees hunting birds. Although both vowed to take down those ruled by greed and pride, each brother chose a different path in this quest.

Sundown honed his skills serving in the Fuerzas Especiales throughout Mexico, while his brother became a lawyer and politician bent on rooting out corruption in local government. Salvador quickly ran afoul of Headman who kidnapped him. Now Sundown uses his skills and natural tracking abilities as a bounty hunter allied with G.I. Joe. Sundown stalks his quarry through the darkened streets, arid desserts, crossroads, and dense jungles of his homeland seeking justice and looking for evidence of his brother. Intent on taking down Headman and the other heads of the Lords of the Underworld before he and his brother lose theirs, he is relentless in his pursuit.

Overkill began as an experimental prototype melding a Battle Android Trooper with a human host: a trooper who ran afoul of a Cobra war game training exercise. It just made sense to make him the leader of an entire unit of android troopers since more than fifty percent of his body has been replaced by mechanical parts. He is also equipped with integral body armor and a self-contained breathing unit. His vison has been enhanced with image intensifiers and infrared scanners. A targeting computer is hard wired between his right eye and trigger finger. Having command of a small army of mindless robots has affected his mind (along with the PTSD of his procedure), making him overly sentimental and protective of his “troops.” Overkill sees them as individuals and given them secret names, picking out some for special attention.
