THE STORY SO FAR…
The Origin of Rise of Nexus™
Rise of Nexus began not as a toy line, but as a game. A tactical tabletop experience where any action figure in your collection could join the fight, moving, dodging, attacking, and strategizing across a grid-based map.
It began on a simple weekend, playing with my son and watching how he saw the world. That spark turned into a five-year journey of building, testing, and refining. Rules emerged from our living room battles. Friends and family joined in to help playtest, turning casual fun into something much bigger.
But we were stuck on one thing: the why. Why are these figures fighting? What does this world look like?
That’s when I remembered a story I had shelved years ago, a graphic novel idea that had always lingered in the back of my mind. As soon as we paired that story with the game, everything clicked.
With my background in design and manufacturing, it felt natural to bring that story to life through fully realized action figures. We began sketching characters, building the world, sculpting prototypes, and Rise of Nexus™ was born.
At that point, we knew: we couldn’t just make a game that uses action figures. We had to make the figures too. Bringing them to life helped shape the aesthetics and tone of the entire brand.
While we’d love to share the tabletop game now, it still needs time. No pun intended, it has a lot of moving parts. And the audiences for games and figures aren’t always the same. So for now, we’re launching the lore and the action figures first. The game will come when it’s ready.
The Action Figures
Rise of Nexus™ is a 3.75” retro-inspired action figure line built for collectors, creators, and fans of classic sci-fi and military toy lines. This campaign launches Wave 1, a four-figure set loaded with articulation, weapons, swappable heads, and removable Holster and Pistol.
FACTORY PAINT SAMPLES
Each figure is part of a larger universe, characters forced into a brutal combat arena known only as the Nexus. The story begins here, but where it goes next is up to you.
Whether you’re an opener, an army builder, or a mint on card enthusiast, these figures are made to hit hard and display well.
Every Rise of Nexus™ figure will come sealed on a custom 9″ x 6″ blister card, designed to capture the look and feel of classic 1980s action figures. Each card features bold, full-color character artwork by Eddie Beis, accompanied by a story-driven dossier on the back that reveals key intel, background, and hidden truths about each character’s role in the Rise of Nexus universe. From the bubble shape to the retro layout, nothing was left to chance.

DEVELOPMENT
To give backers the clearest picture of what to expect, we’ve taken Wave 1 beyond concept and developed full production paint samples in partnership with our trusted overseas factory in China. These samples represent a near-final look at the figures in terms of sculpt, articulation, and paint application. Rather than just sharing early concepts, we’ve invested in producing visuals that closely reflect what will be delivered. We’ll continue updating the campaign with additional prototypes and behind-the-scenes progress as we reach new milestones.

Carlos Espinoza is the founder of Solid Raven and the creator of Rise of Nexus™. A creative force in the designer toy and indie collectibles scene, his artwork has appeared in collaborations with Killer Bootlegs, Super7, Frank Kozik, and Ron English. In 2017, he was part of a collaborative project that earned a Designer Toy Award for Best Non-Licensed Toy. For the last 10 years, he’s worked in manufacturing, focused on R&D, product development, and has over 25 years of experience in Graphic Design and Art Direction, bringing hands-on expertise and sharp detail to every piece. Rise of Nexus is where it all comes together.
We also commissioned Matt LeCroy, a veteran in the toy community, to create additional hand-painted samples for use in marketing, promotional videos, photography, and upcoming toy conventions. His work helps showcase the full potential of each figure and brings the Rise of Nexus™ lineup to life for collectors around the world

Initial Rise of Nexus Figures
The first wave of Rise of Nexus features 4 (four) fully articulated, individually carded O-ring action figures, the frontline operatives of IRON VEIL’s elite Bravo Team, and the central focus of the Rise of Nexus story. Solid Raven LLC is a creative studio and indie toy company founded by Carlos Espinoza, a veteran designer with over two decades of experience in illustration, screen printing, fashion, and toy development. His professional portfolio spans both licensed and independent projects. He has contributed detailed sculpts to retro-style WWF wrestling figures for Hasttel Toy, and also leads his own passion project, Bucky O-Ring, a line of 3D-printable O-ring-style action figures designed with collectors and customizers in mind.
With a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of articulation, tooling limitations, and manufacturing workflows, EBerryStudio specializes in turning concepts into highly detailed, production-ready figures. Whether working on nostalgic tributes or entirely original creations, he is committed to capturing character authenticity while optimizing for real-world production, making him an invaluable partner in any toy line’s development.
Matt Lecroy
Matt LeCroy, the creative force behind LeCroy’s Toys and the Strike Force Alpha toy line, is known for his expert craftsmanship in painting and customizing action figures. Whether bringing vintage O-ring designs back to life or crafting striking new exclusives, his work radiates both skill and nostalgia
He played a pivotal role in the formation of Strike Force Alpha, a new original toy line that channels the spirit of classic 3.75-inch O-ring action figures. Dennis Carbaugh (Level 7 Toys)
Dennis Carbaugh is the founder of Level 7 Toys, a boutique operation known for producing high-quality resin prototypes and custom figure production. With a hands-on understanding of engineering, mold prep, and figure assembly, Dennis played a key role in developing early prototypes for Rise of Nexus, translating digital sculpts into tangible, poseable test figures.
Beyond resin casting and prototyping, Dennis also serves as a consulting engineer, offering guidance on parts tolerances, articulation, and durability during the pre-production phase. His practical insight ensures that the transition from digital to physical not only looks great, but also functions reliably in collectors’ hands.

Risks and challenges
Manufacturing has inherent risks, and new projects have their unique challenges. We are partnered with an experienced factory and factory representative with years of experience with limited-run, collector-focused action figure lines (supplier to WhiskeyJack Toys, Killer Bootlegs, Legends of the Hidden Force, and more.) This partner team has a proven track record for delivering high-quality products with the capability to make adjustments as needed during the production process. Though timing delays are always possible, we have full confidence that our team will bring our products to market, just as they have done consistently for others for many years.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – the o-ring renaissance is upon us. This campaign is product heavy, so there’s undoubtedly something for everyone. I’ll be picking up a couple of figures myself, as they look fun!
