Space:1999 Eagle Playset
Tag Team Collaboration

ZICA Toys and Giant Leap Toys have teamed up to bring back what we consider to be an incredible toy from the 1970s, the Space:1999 Eagle Playset.  Originally produced by Mattel and released in 1976, our reimagining of the toy involves improving on features that we thought were needed, and also being sure to retain some of the vintage charm of the original design.  This is an officially licensed product through our partnership with ITV and Anderson Entertainment.

The Bang For Your Buck

Standard Edition Space:1999 Eagle Playset

Here’s a rundown of what the new version of the Space:1999 Eagle Playset will include:

  • The scale has been increased to give the Eagle a length of 36″ (91.44 cm), approximately 4″ (10.16 cm) longer than the Mattel version.
  • The artwork on the retail packaging will be a slightly modified version of the artwork used on the original Mattel retail packaging from 1976.
  • The ship’s surface details and markings have been improved which is evident in the images.
  • The command module and passenger module details have been improved with new decal graphics and added accessory pieces.  These include a second weapons rack and additional weapons with improved detailing.
  • The two included pilot figures are 3.75″ (9.5 cm) tall and feature improved articulation using the classic o-ring design.  They also include improved detailing on their helmets, gear and space suits.
  • The ship’s landing gear is designed to be more screen accurate, including the addition of the smaller landing gear pads on the underside of the passenger module.
  • Inserts have been added to the large rocket boosters which also gives them a more screen accurate appearance.

The Important FYI Section – Please Read!

Shipping Calculation & Charges

VERY IMPORTANT – Shipping will be calculated and charged once the Eagle is ready to ship.  Please keep in mind that the shipping box is rather large which means shipping charges could be on the high side.  This is especially important to keep in mind for international backers.  We will do our very best to get the lowest shipping rates possible.

Special Preorder Pricing Discount

The $329 preorder price will only be offered during this 60 day Kickstarter campaign. Once the Kickstarter campaign ends the preorder price will be increased to the standard SRP of $399.  Don’t miss this opportunity to take advantage of the $70 savings which can help cover a considerable amount of the shipping charges.

The Final Product

Expect the final product to be slightly different from the prototype shown in the various images.  We’re already working on revisions to improve upon the current design, both in terms of function and aesthetics.

Project Management by Ramen Toys

This project is being managed by Ace of Ramen Toys, who’s become somewhat of a rock star in the collectible toy world.  The product is also being manufactured at the same factory that Ramen Toy uses for their production.  Ace has been beyond fantastic to work with and we’re confident he’ll make sure that we deliver a high quality collectible.

Risks and challenges

Every manufacturing process has its own inherent risks. New projects always have their own unique challenges, such as supply chain interruptions, shipping delays, and unforeseen delays. We understand and acknowledge these risks, and will do our diligence to ensure this campaign is successful. Though timing delays are always possible, we have full confidence that these products will be brought to market.

This looks like fun and that new Dinky Toys version is making it hard to not want to grab all 3! What say you? Will you be getting in on this campaign?
