The G.I.Joe Classified Series collection has done a great job at featuring exclusive art on its packaging for (mostly) each figure released.
Mr. Cecil Cates, who performed the role of Art Director and Lead Designer over the G.I.Joe Classified Series project, has shared an amazing portfolio titled “G.I.Joe Classified Series: Artist Collection”
As noted by Cecil, with the G.I. Joe Classified Series: Artist Series, it was his goal to paint a picture of what this brand means to individuals across the globe and allow them to show us a new expression of it that only they can.
It was his honor and privilege to collaborate with 50+ of today’s top working artists to reimagine the myriad of beloved G.I. Joe characters. By leveraging the creativity of a diverse pool of global artists, the cultural impact of the G.I. Joe brand speaks for itself through their unique perspectives. Check out a small sampling of images here:

The artists showcased include: Dave Rapoza, Tracie Ching, Oliver Barrett, Francesco Francavilla, Phil Noto, Dan Mumford, James Paick, Furio Tedeschi, Sana Takeda, Ashley Witter, Ken Lashley, Kekai Kotaki, Melita Curphy, James White, John Guydo, Sean Cheetham, Tran Nguyen, Jen Bartel, Magali Villeneuve, Jeremy Wilson, Anthony Petrie, Tony Daniel, Scott Fischer, Rich Kelly, Greg Manchess, Billy Christian, Karl Kopinski, Ivan Shavrin, John Tyler Christopher, Wylie Beckert, Tom Whalen, John Giang, Muhammad Firdaus, Yuko Shimizu, Jeffrey Veregge, François Coutu, Luke Preece, Hartley Combs, Frank Morrison, Valentina Remenar, Imad Awan, Orlando Arocena, Anjin Anhut, Robert Sammelin, Hedvig Häggman-Sund, Marcus Williams, Arno Kiss, Adam Riches, David Marquez.
Although I personally may be very selective in my Classified purchases, one thing I can say is that the art direction has been so enjoyable. As such, I’m over the moon that Cecil has put this page together, at it allows us to enjoy the artwork created for a large grouping of earlier offerings from the line without the need to own the figure or download pixelated images on the internet.
Make sure to click through and support Cecil’s endeavor!
