Saturday Morning Cartoons – Thundercats

Saturday, Saturday, SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS, HOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ok, so that may not be exactly how the battle cry for Thundercats goes, but just go with it! 🙂 If it wasn’t obvious, today we’re heading to Thundera to join Jaga, Lion-O and the rest of the team for the first episode of Thundercats titled “EXODUS”. Check it out below –

ThunderCats is an American media franchise, featuring a fictional group of cat-like humanoid aliens. The characters were created by Tobin “Ted” Wolf and featured in an animated television series named ThunderCats, running from 1985 to 1989, which was animated by Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation, and co-produced by Rankin/Bass Productions.

Like its predecessor Masters of the Universe, the ThunderCats franchise simultaneously launched as a line of action figures produced by LJN and a syndicated after-school weekday cartoon.

Thundercats has always been one of my favorite cartoons. I can remember running home from school to watch it every day. When it was moved to Saturday (or, at least, in my local market), it was heartbreaking, as I rarely got to watch it anymore. Thankfully, it was moved back to WPIX (New York) and the battle began anew!

When the revamp took place, I loved the reimagining of the series. However, that Thundercats Roar show on Cartoon Network? Sigh, I was hoping that it would do well, but needless to say, it didn’t.

What’s your take on Thundercats? Any favorite iteration?

Well friends, on that note, I wish you a wonderful day ahead. Thanks for sharing some of your morning here on the ‘Port! See you soon!

My take on ThunderCats is that it has an incredible backstory with intriguing characters and settings. Its creators really knew what they were doing. The show had its faults, yes, but I accept it for what it is: true entertainment.
