With all the excitement surrounding the preorder drop for G.I.Joe Classified Series Mutt and Junkyard, I thought it would be a great time to take a look back at an amazing assortment of high end G.I.Joe offerings that were posted for auction on Hake’s Americana & Collectibles from the collection of Mr. Kevin Watts.
Today I wanted to check out the extensive assortment of offerings related to the 1992 G.I.Joe Drug Elimination Force (DEF) Mutt and his companion, Junkyard. Mutt has always been one of my favorite characters, so in 1992 when he was released with a new sculpt, I was immediately in love.
The assortment that Kevin had up for grabs is, to say the least, thorough. The collection includes:

- G.I. JOE MUTT WEAPON AND ACCESSORY ORIGINAL ART GROUP BY KURT GROEN.
- G.I. JOE MUTT ORIGINAL D.E.F. CARD ORIGINAL ART.
- G.I. JOE MUTT 2 UP WAX HEAD SCULPT.
- G.I. JOE MUTT 1 TO 1 HAND ASSEMBLED PRIMERED RESIN FIGURE.
- G.I. JOE MUTT AND JUNKYARD TEST SHOT FIGURES IN BAG WITH ACCESSORIES.
- G.I. JOE MUTT PROOF CARD AND CARDED FIGURE PAIR.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a more extensive ’92 D.E.F. Mutt Collection than what is represented here. I’m thankful that items like this have been cataloged so that future generations of G.I.Joe fans have a reference to fall back on.
All things considered, maybe this should’ve been a #throwbackthursday post. 🙂
