Hello The Art of G.I.JOE: A Real American Hero backers!

As I mentioned in UPDATE #45, I received the factory proofs and streamed the two hour review on Facebook. Kickstarter does not support native video any more, so I went live on Facebook for this review. I heard from several of you since then that you aren’t on Facebook, so I chose YouTube for the next review.

The Final Engineering Pilot (FEP) has arrived!

Since reviewing the proofs, we revised over 70 pages in just two days. This was our final round of polishing. The revised spreads were sent to the factory, and the factory quickly sent back PDF proofs for approval. They’ve been amazingly responsive, and are creating a top quality product, as you’ll see below. Once the digital proofs were approved, the factory moved into production!

That’s right, this book is IN PRODUCTION!

The very first copy was FedExed to me and arrived in mere days. Again, they are moving quickly! I did another two hour live stream on YouTube, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with the final product. Packing and fullfilment update

As I mentioned in UPDATE #44, the factory provided a delivery timeline and that schedule showed books arriving in NC by Dec. 7th. That would give us a VERY busy 2+ weeks to get as many of these out as possible, so that you all could have a G.I.JOE Christmas. Since then, I’ve decided to call in the professionals. I am springing for a fulfillment company to help optimize the fulfilment of this book. Shout out to Ben of Skeletron for his help in making this happen! We plan to use USPS media mail to keep delivery cost in the continental US down to the original $20 estimate. USPS says it takes 2-10 days for delivery of Media Mail. BOTTOM LINE: I’ll be paying extra to make sure these books get out to you as quickly as possible, but I doubt most of you will have them before Christmas. Time will tell, and I’d love to be wrong about that!

I’m also paying an additional $29,000 out of pocket for the factory to double box each book and to add corner foam inserts to protect the corners. This will speed up fulfillment stateside and protect your set. We’ve worked too long, and too hard to let this product be damaged in transit!
