2019 Black Major Toys Cobra Cobalt Invasor v2 Pictorial Review

For this edition of #blackmajormonday, let’s go back to 2019 for a look at the Cobra Cobalt Invasor v2!

The original Cobra Invasor, clad in all black, is quite the rarity and a grail in many G.I.Joe collections. The figure was offered by both Plastirama (Argentina) and Estrella (Brazil). What makes this figure all sorts of fun is that it’s based on the Cobra Cobalt Invasor v1 from Black Major Toys, making it a homage of a homage (of sorts). The following image was grabbed via Google, so rightful credit is due to their rightful owner(s). Check it out –

Fast forward to today, where Black Major has given the Cobra Cobalt Invasor a natural evolution by offering him in v2 Format! I’ve put together a gallery of nearly 50 images for you to check out below, followed by my thoughts afterwards!

Similar to the Crimson Invasor, I personally never had a v1 Cobalt Invasor from Black Major in my collection, so the Cobra Cobalt Invasor v2 is a welcomed update to the original. Sporting an all Cobalt base with Red and, Black Silver highlights, he’s without a doubt a Cobra operative. The Cobalt base on this Invasor is really vibrant. To give you in idea, I’ve included a side-by-side with a Letal Customs Nightmare Grenadier and a HI-METAL R Xabungle for comparison. The Cobalt Invasor’s Wolf is dark gray, giving him a real “wolf” feel. He sports a black “skunk stripe” down his back and deep red eyes. As far as gear goes, the Cobra Cobalt Invasor v2 comes equipped with his Sword, Uzi and back pack, unlike his predecessor that included a cross bow & uzi. Collectors, as I’ve mentioned in other SEv2 reviews, please note – The Sword IS SHARP AND HAS A VERY POINTY EDGE. As such, I wouldn’t recommend that particular weapon for smaller children (and you be careful too, lol!) Now, many who pick this figure up may note that the sword doesn’t exactly fit in the slots on the backpack. Well, no worries, you can do one of two things –

  1. Place the blade on it’s side (see pics above).
  2. Carefully shave off the excess in each slot.

A small nitpick, really, as the Sword being held in a different position allows us to look at the figure as completely different, embracing his new role as Invasor.
